Sport England funding to engage families

Sport England has announced details of its latest round of funding: Family Fund - to support parents on low incomes and families living in areas of high deprivation to ensure fun and enjoyable activity opportunities that deliver value to the children and wider families.

Prior to the opening date for applications, a series of workshops are open for attendance by organisations interested in applying for the family fund. Their purpose is to offer support on applications. The dates and locations are:

If your charity works with disadvantaged children and young people, Children in Need could be the funder for you. The charity has identified seven 'building blocks' that it sees as essential for young people to achieve their potential:

My Community - Bright Ideas Fund

The Community Business Bright Ideas Fund aims to give your community group the support and tools to start setting up your community business. It will also give your group the early stage finance that you need need to carry out consultation with local people and feasibility studies to develop a community business idea the community wants and needs.

A programme of support and grants of up to £20,000 is available to develop your community business idea.

New local scheme Chatty Cafe

A new scheme has been launched in Oldham to get people talking and to combat loneliness.

Alexandra Hoskyn, a former Saddleworth School pupil, has set up the Chatty Café scheme to encourage cafes across the North West to designate a Chatter & Natter table where customers can sit if they would like to talk with other customers.

The overall goal is to help people who may be lonely and spend days without talking to another person but it has been named the Chatty Café scheme because it’s about creating something positive.

Spring into Action Ball

On April 29 2017 Action Oldham Fund are hosting our very first Spring into Action Ball. Our theme for the evening is Revolution, a nod back to the past when Oldham was firmly put on the map as the boomtown of the industrial revolution. Oldham is now sparking it's own revolution, one of change, innovation and growth.


Art with Heart (with funding from Action Oldham) presents Declaration, a curious, colourful and candid exploration of ADHD, mental health and diagnosis.

Instinctive, curious, bold and bouncy; Sarah is a mighty proud square peg, which wouldn’t be such a problem if the hole wasn’t so damn round.
