Working together to develop and strengthen a vibrant Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector

Employer Supported Volunteering

Volunteer Centre Oldham launched an Employer Supported Volunteer (ESV) Scheme in partnership with Oldham Council. Employees were able to volunteer, for up to two days with a voluntary, community or faith organisation in Oldham. Through volunteering, employees were able to share their professional skills and or personal interests, whilst developing their understanding and knowledge of the communities they serve.

ESV Team building day

On 30th March this year, 20 employees from Oldham Council came together to renovate the living space and garden at one of Threshold Housing’s women’s services.

The employees formed the newly appointed District Teams and the aim of the day was for them to bond as a team but also to create an attractive, comfortable and inspiring place for the women to relax and live. After a full day of grafting, the team created a space they could be proud of. See below a quote from one of the employees as well as some before and after pictures.

‘Threshold made us all feel so welcome. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience; good company, a fun day and a lot of laughing! I loved every second and left for home feeling like a difference had been made’

This event was organised by Threshold and formed part of the pilot Employer Supported Volunteer Scheme which Volunteer Centre Oldham has developed over the past 12 months in partnership with Oldham Council.
