| The Big Society |
On the 18th May 2010 at a round table event in the Cabinet Room in Number 10, a group of civil society community activists and leaders met with the Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Minister for the Cabinet Office Francis Maude and Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd to debate the Government's Big Society programme. | Budget June 2010 |
The budget is the government’s annual financial statement and review of levels of taxation. It also includes the government’s future financial strategy and economic forecast. The Chancellor of the Exchequer delivers the Budget speech in the House of Commons. Click here to read more.

| Localism Bill |
On 15th November 2011 the Localism bill received Royal assent and became the Localism Act 2011. The Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has published a press release, a short factual guide and a plain English overview stating the main aims and provisions of the Act. |
| Embedding the Compact and its Codes |
The Compact is a partnership agreement between the statutory sector and the voluntary, community and faith sector. It sets out commitments on both sides, which if met, improve the quality of partnerships between the sectors and improves relationships. The Compact is to be used as a guide to influence working practices with the fundamental purpose of benefitting Oldham residents. Click here to read more.

| The Comprehensive Spending Review |
The Comprehensive Spending Review was initially published on 20th October 2010 but has since been updated. This briefing paper provides a general overview of the Spending review and a brief synopsis of government department reductions. Also included is a summary of information from the first Comprehensive Spending Review, more details on VCF sector funding mentioned in the Review as well as comments and reactions from the sector.
